Dakar feat shows EVs are not just for cities

acciona-dakarIf you think electric vehicles (EVs) are just for puttering around town (slowly), you haven’t been paying attention.

Not only is there now a global single-seater championship for Formula E cars, but an EV has now completed the world’s toughest rally.

Acciona’s all-electric car became the first zero-emission vehicle to complete the Dakar Rally – held annually in South America, but named for its original destination in Africa before being relocated for security reasons.

The extreme conditions of the Dakar Rally provided an important milestone, proving that EVs needn’t be confined to cities or short freeway rides.

Our friends at Sustainly have looked at the achievement in more detail here.

If you are looking for help with communication around your motorsport venture, or sustainability innovation, maybe we can help.
