Awards, praise, and a client in New York – reflecting on a special year

IMG_8343 compWe spend more time telling clients’ stories rather than our own, but there have been some real highlights at Weltch Media in 2013, which we thought were worth sharing.

In February, Allie Lawson joined us as a communications consultant – a real boost to the team, which has helped us further improve our service. Allie has delivered great results in social media, media relations, research and copywriting, including several projects for Tennis Wales and other clients.

In April, we made headlines ourselves by becoming the first agency in Wales to be recognised in the UK-wide BestFor PR awards – winning a gold award in the Wales “regional” category, and silver awards for our work in Sport and Public Services.

It was a successful year for many of our clients, too. Tennis Wales was especially pleased at the big rise in participation, and credited us with playing a part in that success.

We continued to work with Leadership & Management Wales (LMW) on a range of communications projects, and with Built Environment Sustainability Training (BEST) as its programme gathered pace.

We began providing a social media service to Cowbridge Book Festival, and expanded our training portfolio by involving TV presenter Mariclare Carey-Jones in our media interview sessions.

In October, we were invited to attend the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Canmol awards, where another client Swansea University scooped a top prize. Indeed, higher education continued to be a specialist area for us, and we also completed several successful projects for Cardiff University.

Later that month, we again hit the headlines in the marketing and PR trade media, when we beat off big-city rivals to win a client in New York – the ethical toy and fashion start-up, Dr Bashi.

Another client, Guttercrest Racing, and driver Ben Power, gained an all-time high third place in the National Legends Car Championship, with a decisive performance in the final televised round at Brands Hatch in November.

And we rounded off the year with more exciting news, as the team’s car – complete with Weltch Media logos – was invited to be exhibited at the Autosport International show in January 2014.
